The ABA Story

ABA Training Ltd was founded in 2005 by the current directors. Both had been running their own individual businesses since the middle 1990’s. Anne was running a successful Training and Development consultancy and Bill was doing a similar role within the Quality Management sector. They met whilst working with a college that had funding to support local businesses through training.

The project was very successful and although the funding ran out in 2002, various Companies had seen such tangible results to their business, they continued working with Bill and Anne for a number of years. ABA Training was born from the initials of the Directors fore names.

In 2005 we turned the partnership into a corporation. Our clients were keen to progress to recognized qualifications to endorse their learning experiences, and in order to become a recognized Centre with the Awarding Bodies, we had to set up as a limited company.

At ABA Training we pride ourselves on providing excellent training, aimed at the individual as well as the Company. At ABA Training we never run “off the shelf courses” or aim to produce “clones”. We tailor our courses according to our audience and encourage and support our learners to achieve their goals, whatever those goals may be.

We believe if training is delivered well, if the learner is supported and nurtured, then there is no limit to what they can achieve for themselves as well as their business. Likewise, if a learner is left without sustenance they will fail to flourish and their potential will be lost.

We chose the sunflower as our logo as it signifies everything we believe about our training.

Sunflowers generally will follow the sun; they are not "static". Even those sunflowers whose heads do not turn towards the sun, will find their leaves do. They can be small and beautiful or huge and magnificent. They can grow in singularly pots as well as en masse in open fields. They can never be ignored. They always add something positive to whoever sees them. Our learners, if they are supported once they return from the training will add benefit to their organisation and the people around them, through passing on their knowledge and applying their skills. Like the sunflower, they will seek out the positives and follow the sun.

Sunflowers have been cultivated for their wonderful properties for thousands of years. They are not governed by short term trends and fashions. They have stood the test of time and have been exported all around the world and have adapted to successfully grow in many different climates.

Its uses are widely diverse. Sunflower oil is used in cooking and salads, as well as cosmetics, emollients for skin care products and even biodiesel fuel. They are used in the making of latex and hypoallergenic rubber.

The seeds are food for people and birds. The seeds can be eaten as they are or processed into butter or even the butter that goes onto the bread. The cake left from the processing of seeds is used to feed livestock.

Following the Chernobyl disaster, sunflowers were planted to remove toxic substances from the soil, such as lead, arsenic and uranium.

Just like our learners. It doesn’t matter what their background or current status is, if they are given the right climate, they will flourish and ensure future generations will flourish too. They will cut through the negativity and create a positive environment for themselves and others.

Finally, but just as importantly, we chose the sunflower because it is beautiful and cheerful. Who can fail to be uplifted by the sight of a field of sunflowers nodding their heads at the sun on a lovely day?
